This course covers the fundamentals of C# development. It is designed for beginner developers who want to develop their programming skills. It covers the basics of C# syntax, control structures, object-oriented programming, collections and the use of LINQ. Combining theory and practice, this course enables participants to quickly master the key concepts and develop simple programmes in C#.
Learning objectives
At the end of this course, participants will be able to :
- Write and understand simple programs in C#
- Master the basics of object-oriented programming with C#.
To follow this course, you need to have an understanding of the fundamental concepts of programming (variables, loops, conditions).
Understanding the basics of the C# language
- Introducing C# and its ecosystem.
- Installing the development environment (Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code).
- Understanding the structure of a C# program.
Use basic C# syntax.
- Identifying basic data types.
- Distinguish between arithmetic, comparison and logical operators.
- Identify the differences and similarities with other languages (Java, Python, C++, etc.).
Control structures
- Use conditions: if, else if, else, switch.
- Implement loops: for, while, do-while.
Discovering functions and methods in C#
- Defining and using functions.
- Using function parameters and returns.
- Using function overloading.
- Using static and instance methods.
Discover Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Explain the basic concepts of OOP: classes and objects.
- Define encapsulation: properties and methods.
- Introduce inheritance.
- Polymorphism.
- Understanding interfaces and abstract classes.
Using collections in C#
- Using generic arrays and collections: List, Dictionary, HashSet, Queue, Stack.
- Using generic and non-generic collections.
Understanding lambda expressions and delegates
- Understanding delegates and events.
- Managing the syntax and use of lambda expressions.
- Using delegates and lambda expressions to create anonymous methods and pass behaviours as arguments.
Understanding LINQ
- Discovering LINQ.
- Explaining the basic syntax of LINQ queries.
- Perform common operations (filtering, projection, sorting).
Managing exceptions
- Understanding and managing exceptions.
- Using try, catch and finally.
- Creating your own exceptions.
Managing files
- Managing file reading and writing.
- Using the File, StreamReader and StreamWriter classes.
Understanding serialization and deserialization
- Understanding the basic concepts of serialization.
- Understanding binary, XML and JSON serialisation.
